Norwegian Cruise Line Crew Member Went Overboard
A second crew member from Norwegian Cruise Line has gone overboard in the space of two weeks, following an incident aboard the Norwegian Breakaway with no positive results.

The crew member fell overboard late on Saturday night as the ship was sailing from Bermuda to Boston. The incident occurred shortly after midnight on Sunday, east of Cape Cod. Passengers on board reported a "Code Oscar, Port" emergency call, indicating a person overboard. The ship turned around, activated floodlights, and deployed lifeboats while searching the surrounding waters.
The United States Coast Guard was alerted to coordinate the search efforts, which lasted several hours. Despite the swift response, the crew member could not be found. In a statement, the cruise line confirmed the incident and said the US Coast Guard later took control of the search and rescue operation.

The cruise line emphasized that the safety and well-being of the crew were its top priority and that its thoughts were with the crew member's family during this difficult time. The search has since been called off unsuccessfully.
According to a notice from Cruise Law News, the crew member is believed to have been an Indian national working in the ship's galley.
The emergency delayed the ship's arrival in Boston by several hours, with the vessel docking around 11:30 AM on Sunday. The embarkation process for the next seven-day cruise was postponed until the late afternoon. No changes to the itinerary were announced.
This is the second such incident in recent days, following a similar case reported by Norwegian Viva. Further details about the crew member have not yet been officially released.
For the crew on board, the focus, despite the headlines, is on the human loss. Regardless of the circumstances, a life has been lost, leaving family, friends, and colleagues with an immeasurable loss.
