The day began with early morning exercise; even during a cruise, I try to maintain my running routine. The advantage on board is that you can use the air-conditioned studio treadmill. You can get your miles in there. This way, you avoid running outdoors in over 30-degree heat. Towels and water are provided, which is also necessary, as the photo proves.

An excursion was planned for the afternoon, so lunch was necessary. Tag & Nacht offered a changing menu. These dishes were inspired by national cuisines. For example, Greek cuisine, which was very delicious.

Swimming excursion in the afternoon

The excursion, done twice before, but always a highlight, is the trip on a dhow, including a swimming stop. The path led from the tender boat landing stage on foot, no more than five minutes, to the dhow harbour. In Khasab, tendering was necessary. The Mein Schiff 2 is actually about 15 metres too long to dock directly at the pier. This would be possible for Mein Schiff 3-6.

On the dhow, you sit on the floor and enjoy the journey through the fjord landscape. Dolphins can regularly be seen, although there were only a few this time. Refreshments, soft drinks, and tea are available on the dhow at no extra charge. You also receive some explanations about the places visited in the fjords.

The first swimming stop was in relatively deep water. Entry was either via a jump from the dhow or, more conveniently, via a ladder. The water temperature was around 30 degrees. The swimming time of half an hour was ample. There is a simple shower on the dhow to rinse off at least most of the saltwater, as well as a small toilet.

The second swimming stop was near the beach. You could swim to shore and back to the boat. More precisely, even I could manage the distance. Here too, the break was about half an hour; it was already getting towards dusk, creating a very beautiful atmosphere.

Evening entertainment

After returning to the harbour, we walked back to the tender boat, which was already waiting. In the dark, we were ferried back to Mein Schiff 2. On board, after a quick freshen-up, we went back to Atlantik Mediterran for dinner.
